The Possum Patch is located at Pialligo Estate, on the banks of the Molonglo River. Long used by the Ngunnawal people, the river corridor was first settled by Europeans in the 1820s when intensive agricultural uses commenced. The famous fertile river flats have been producing food for the Canberra district ever since.
Now Pialligo Estate, with its 800 metres of river frontage and 28 hectares of farm consists of award-winning market and herb gardens, a vineyard, orchard and olive groves. Our new plot of land on Beltana Road is home to The Possum Patch alongside an upcoming retail marketplace and soon-to-launch cafe.
At The Possum Patch, children engage in a ‘learning through play’ approach where they can explore the Estate and participate in nature-based activities such as picking vegetables from our market garden, collecting fruit from the Orchard, learning to cook using fresh produce or purely spending time in the natural environment.
